The PM will do it

So, what does the PM do anyway?
Research, analyze, benchmark, define, prioritize, test, analyze, benchmark, prioritize, check. What else.
The answer would greatly depend on the size of your organization. Coming from one that has etched Lean and Mean on its flag, our product managers can find themselves doing many fascinating things...
Project and Program management
Operations
Customer support
Multi-language translations
UI design (yep, we had to pull the designer resource under the PM's feet)
App stores admin
Are a few real-world examples off the top of my mind. My bottom line is, the PM needs to do whatever the product requires. We must detect vacuum where and when it occurs on our product development path, alert about it, and fill it - ourselves, if that is what needs to be done.
It may sound as if I'm lamenting, but that is not the case! The good part is that part of our job is about learning, shifting, adapting, constant adventure and never-ending education :)
Someone once said to me that PM's are the rock stars of the hi-tech universe, sure is a nice thought. Someone else said PM stands for Pisher Masriach, look it up.
Better strive for the former, huh?
